The aim of this study was to improve a measuring system for determining the velocity of dust explosions. This measuring system was provided by the Chair of Thermal Processing Technology. In particular the measurement results should become more specific to allow a clearer interpretation of the dust explosion. For this purpose the system was examined in order to determine existing potential for improvement. Based on these findings several modifications to the system were made. The effectiveness of each modification has been proven experimentally. In the end we succeeded in clarifying the dust explosion´s temporal progress through various adaptions to the measuring system. In addition further suggestions were developed to improve the system.
