Abstract
In the recent years the issue of CO2-emissions gained importance in automotive development. One way to lower emission is thoroughgoing lightweight construction. Furthermore it is the objective of every new development to lower costs, integrate more functions and to improve quality. Based on this background MAGNA STEYR develops an adhesive bonded cross car beam with plastic-metal-hybridtechnology. The objective of this diploma thesis is to judge the feasibility of this project and to choose a qualified adhesive system for this application. For the adhesive selection shear tension tests have been performed to ensure optimal adhesion for both materials. To check the realizability of the component, prototypes have been built and tested for the relevant requirements. The result of the thesis is that the feasibility can be judged as positive. A qualified adhesive system was found.
