Abstract
Sputtertargets made of pure Molybdenum are used for coating solar panels. For cooling of these targets in industrial machines, different coolant solutions are taken. These coolant solutions cause a corrosive attack on molybdenum and further on construction component materials. The most important materials are copper, brass and stainless steel. This diploma thesis clarifies, which coolant solution should be taken, to obtain low corrosion attack on different material combinations (molybdenum-copper, molybdenum-brass, molybdenum-stainless steel). Furthermore different inhibitors were added to the coolant solutions and different temperatures of the coolant solutions were tested. Imersion tests, current density-potential measurements and Evans-diagrams were conducted to investigate the corrosion problems. The material combination molybdenum-copper in tap water and at temperatures of 40°C, caused the most severe corrosive attack. Adding the inhibitors Nalco 1006A/B and AZ8104 to tap water cause a strong decrease of the corrosion rate.
