Abstract

The University of Leoben was faced with new challenges due to the Bologna-process and the commencement of the Academic Law 2002. The Academic Law claims under § 14 among other things the development of an own quality management system for quality assurance as well as intra-academical and external evaluations. In the course of the development of an academical quality management system at the University of Leoben for the domain "studies and teachings", the evaluation of certain curricula is scheduled too. So the aim of this thesis is, based on the analysis of existing approaches for quality assurance respectively quality management in industry and university sector, to devise a model for the evaluation of curricula especially for the University of Leoben. Beside the criteria by means of which a curriculum should be evaluated, the methodology for the accomplishment of an internal self-evaluation and an external peer-review is presented. The developed approach is to be integrated in the existing quality assurance- and management system of the University of Leoben, to ensure a continuous improvement process on the level of study programmes by the enhancements of the curricula.
