Abstract
Many factors affect society, one of them is digitalization. The term is used to describe the introduction and use of solutions that are based on digital technologies. Digitalization offers opportunities but can also pose risks. Managing directors face the challenge of selecting the latest digital technologies so that the products, processes and business models remain competitive. Often companies fail to implement the digital transformation due to the high level of complexity. The variety of technologies and the scenarios of possible uses are too extensive. Every digitalization project needs a structured process and suitable management techniques. In this master thesis, a procedure for a digitalization project in the order process is designed for the energy trading company Manfred Mayer MMM Mineralöl Vertriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. headquartered in Neudörfl. The company has more than 40 own trucks. They supply the east and south of Austria with heating oil products, regenerative wood pellets, fuels and lubricants. Since the last years it is planned to increase digitalization efforts to achieve the latest state of the art. A questionnaire was designed to collect employees’ views on digitalization in order processing. This was implemented with the online tool Survey Monkey. The questionnaires were sent by e-mail to the office workers and the drivers received the questionnaires on paper. A recommendation for the energy trading company Manfred Mayer MMM Mineralöl Vertriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. was given based on the theoretical elaboration and the questionnaire results.
