Abstract
Abstract Rescue teams are repeatedly exposed to onerous missions, so that a processing of the stress reactions not only makes sense for the victim/patient, but also for the helpers. A major event and subsequent event on the development of targeted stress management after onerous missions (SvE) in Austria and for Salzburg was the major event in Kaprun in the year 2000. Although rescue teams are trained in setting up a protective mechanism, they need help in specific situations. The goal of the study is to highlight the possibilities in dealing with stress reactions that are offered by the SvE for employees in the Salzburg regional association in order to process stressful events after an assignment or to mitigate the consequences in the beginning. The insight gained in the following work serves to answer the question of how SvE contributes to the continued ability of emergency services to continue their work after onerous missions. Help services provided by the SvE include defusing, debriefing, demobilization, on-scene support, as well as formal and informal one-on-one interviews. According to the statements, made in the interviews, experience has shown that it is best to help the rescue team in dealing with onerous missions with colleagues who have the same emotional access to the events. These talks are conducted by so-called peers, who are always at the side of the rescue team. The tasks of the peers are like a holistic care, which is used either before, during or after a stressful event. The help takes effect that all rescue persons are in the following operations experienced, experienced and reliable, so ready for action rescue.
