Abstract

In this Diploma Thesis a literature research was used as theoretical background for removing chromate in groundwater in order to compare different reduction processes and to determine the state of the technology. To find out influences of different reducing agents and different pH-values on the entry of specific ions from soil to groundwater two experimental series with soil columns were conducted. The estimated groundwater compounds were specified based on the information of these experiments. According to these data the iron consumption for the first level of the treatment system was calculated. In the next step the formation of sludge, which is expected in the treatment plant, was calculated giving the input-data for assessing the plant size. Additionally an option to change the input parameters for sludge formation due to precipitation of Fe(III) and Cr(III) was implemented in excel-sheets.
