Abstract

The manganese deposit in Bužim has been mined since 1962. The exploitation stopped with the beginning of the Yugoslav wars. Several attempts to reopen the mine were made and potential investors expressed their interest in an updated pre-feasibility study. In this work a closer look on the project economics was taken, compared to previous reports and PFS.The main aim of this theses, to demonstrate the feasibility of further mining in Bužim, was achieved by taking the following work steps:
•Data review, order and summary
•Creation of the drillhole database
•Creation of an updated orebody model
•Creation of a block model
•Classification of the deposit
•Creation of a mine and pit design
•Creation of a schedule for the mining and processing activities
•Calculation of the profitability
•Creation of a sensitivity analyses
•Writing of a final report
With the given assumptions it was concluded that the project can be conducted feasible and profitable after taking those steps. Some aspects need further investigation but are not considered a threat to the feasibility.
