Piping Execution Process - Sicherstellung der Engineering- Qualität für den Rohrleitungsbau bei Siemens Combined Cycle Power Plants

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis (University Course)

Abstract

This thesis is focused on the development and implementation of a structured process for the handling of the piping work package for power plant projects. Due to its complexity and overall internal and external interfaces is piping one of the key disciplines in power plant construction and requires detailed workflows. The existing price competition in power plant construction forces Siemens Energy Solutions to respond quickley to changing market situations. Time, or rather in speed, while maintaining of high Quality standards, has become the decisive competitive factor. The following chapter describes the organizational environment as well as the current situationstion. In particular the resolution of the interface problems but also the latent conflict between process-oriented and project-oriented way of thinking is a special topic of this thesis. The findings derived from the theoretical foundations, in particular the importance of the quality and its guarantee in the process chain, lead to a new settlement process for pipeline construction (piping execution process) with clearly defined interfaces and a measurable quality design review (DRV) process. An objective and quantitatively measurable code system for the planning quality makes it possible to optimize the time constraints for the planning and execution.
