Nachhaltigkeitsanforderungen an die Upstream Supply Chain am Beispiel der Automobilindustrie

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

The requirements of the enterprises have changed dramatically due to globalisation and heightened standards concerning the legitimacy of a company’s actions. Through new communication technologies, allowing a communication across borders, the risk of a company losing their reputation if acting against societal norms has strongly increased. However, the examination of company’s ecological and social responsibilities has been alleviated through the implication of different standards (ISO 14001, ISO 26000, SA 8000, etc.) Through a changing environment and the increasing global interconnectedness of companies among each other, acquisition has become a very important department inside a company’s structure, since bespoke departments directly reach out to suppliers to mitigate risks along the upstream supply chain. Since data for monitoring the whole supply chain is not available yet, this thesis presents a framework for monitoring the sustainability performance of the upstream supply chain by changing from enterprise perspective to branch perspective. To verify the framework, the relation between the automotive parts manufacturers and automobil industry as well as connections between the automotive parts manufacturers and the raw material sector were observed.
