Monitoringsystem für Gurtförderer - Industrieanwendung

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

This work deals with the testing of the E-PrimeTracker in an industrial environment. The E-PrimeTracker is a belt misalignment monitoring and correction system developed at the Chair of Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics of Montanuniversität Leoben by the working group Conveying Technology and Design Methods in cooperation with the company ScrapeTec Trading GmbH (Kamp-Lintfort, Germany). The aim is to verify whether and under what conditions the steering function of the E-PrimeTracker is operational. Additionally, it will be investigated whether a repeatability of errors of different loads applied to the conveyor belt can be detected by the monitoring system. Therefor, the steering station extended by the monitoringsystem was installed in two belt conveyors in the sintering plant of the company voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH, located in Leoben, Austria. The study attempts to force the belt out of its base position by applying various eccentric loads to the conveyor belt using a device designed during this work. This induced belt misalignment will be recorded by using two ultrasonic sensors integrated into the monitoring system and by a laser sensor installed on the return pulley, then evaluated and compared with repeated experiments. The E-PrimeTracker then is intended to minimize or to prevent belt misalignment. To investigate the influence of the belt contact force of the E-PrimeTracker on the belt steering capability, experiments were conducted at different angles of wrap. Furthermore, experiments without E-PrimeTracker were performed to compare the behavior of the conveyor belt during induced belt misalignment with and without E-PrimeTracker.
