Abstract
Rock bolt is a kind of reinforcement element, which is used in underground excavations to increase stability of cavity, and to prevent rock falls. They are designed to provide the safety of crews and to generate stable working conditions. Nowadays, rock bolts applications are widely operated in underground mines, ground engineering and tunnelling fields. The aim of the present study was to examine the positive outcomes appearing when the rock bolts applied in underground. The research which has been conducted on rock bolts so far support these findings. Nonetheless, the inevitable relationship between rock bolts and rock mechanics has not been ignored. All rock bolts in the market, which are automated and not, have been examined and beside this a research has been done on patented systems which have not been put on the market yet. However, this present study has focused on the automated rock bolt types. The last part of the study was, first of all the rock bolts being used in the market have been examined, in terms of their historically development. After that, the tendency of rock bolts in the market of nowadays has been analysed. In addition to this, the machines operating automatic and mechanical rock bolts have also been researched.
