Abstract

In recent years legal and regulating frameworks in areas such as quality, environment, energy as well as occupational health and safety have changed significantly for organizations and companies. Due to the increasing complexity of these frameworks the voestalpine Weichensysteme GmbH has to conform to certain laws and regulations, while trying to achieve improvements along with obtaining competitive advantages. The implementation and adoption of standardized management systems offers helpful guidance to define, manage and control relevant methods, responsibilities, processes and goals, relating to topics such as quality and/or environmental protection. The introduction and concurrent use of different subject related subsystems results in disadvantages such as redundant and therefore extensive documentation, unexploited synergies and loss of information. Furthermore, there is a possibility that the goals of individual management systems could have a negative impact on one another and/or on the company’s goals. The literature research, that has been carried out in the course of this master thesis provides an overview of the current state of research in the field of management systems and integrated management systems. In addition, digital approaches from efficient document management to holistic software solutions for management systems are identified and presented. The empirical part of the thesis has the goal to provide the cooperating company with a dynamic and adaptive software solution. The decision was based on the analysis of the current situation, combined with a detailed market overview. Further, an integrated management software comparison was conducted, followed by the development of a target concept. To support the decision, a qualitative consideration of opportunities and risks together with a cost-benefit-analysis was made. Lastly, actions as well as a timeline for the implementation of the software can be found in this thesis.
