Abstract
The oil and natural gas exploration and production company RAG, was the initiator of this thesis. The work task resulted from an interdisciplinary evaluation of the technical plants in the gas infrastructure, with the aim to investigate the economic viability of 25 gas stations over a period of five years. The evaluation of actual costs supplied the necessary data, which provided a basis for the following calculations. A multi-stage contribution margin calculation for all gas stations was accomplished, to demonstrate, if the stations yield a profit or not. Furthermore is the method of discounted cash flow applied, which considered a scenario of a possible reconstruction of a selected station. A life cycle cost analysis was also applied. The calculation was carried out in order to compare the life cycle costs of used compressors towards possible new options. Finally the calculations results are presented and recommendations were pronounced for the company.
