Abstract

Currently, the Austrian transport sector is undergoing an electrification progression which is reflected in the high number of newly registered electric vehicles. Parallel to the electric vehicles themselves, the focus is also shifting toward the charging infrastructure, which is seen as an essential criterion for the success of electromobility. Customer requirements are already leading to a high level of technical diversity in charging infrastructure. Nevertheless, the operators of this diversified charging infrastructure need to manage it in the best possible way from the perspective of safety technology, economic efficiency and the legal framework. In the case study of Kelag (KELAG-Kärntner Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft) e mobility, the digitalization of the charging infrastructure was examined with a focus on asset management. Finally, a concept was created for an IT system that can leverage identified digitalization potentials of asset management and at the same time be suitably integrated into the IT system landscape of Kelag. Therefore, a comprehensive survey of the technical operational management and an analysis of the IT landscape were performed, which served as the basis for further steps. Especially the field of maintenance served as the essential core aspect of technical considerations. The findings of the analyses were formulated into digitalization potentials, which also set the premises for the requirements of the concept. The definition of the requirements that were specified for the desired IT system is the first essential part of the concept. For example, in order to be able to adequately map maintenance-related processes or to store documents in the system in a legally compliant manner, a suitable structuring of the charging infrastructure master data within an asset hierarchy system proved to be of central importance. The asset hierarchy system was created on the basis of the identified master data on the one hand and on the basis of requirements for structured maintenance of the assets on the other. Likewise, the appropriate system integration (horizontal as well as vertical) is part of the content-related explanations. An essential component of the system landscape under consideration is the backend system, which represents the core element for technical operational management and enables communication with the charging station. Another part of the system landscape is the ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning System) with several modules, which are used for ordering materials or for accounting of the running costs. Similarly, a mobile application for the digital mapping of maintenance activities is part of the targeted system landscape. The concept should therefore satisfy several interfaces in the IT system landscape and serve the purpose of holistic and digital maintenance of the charging infrastructure.
