Abstract

This thesis is about the creation of a new access concept for an existing, semi-automatic forging line of an Austrian enterprise. The aim of this thesis is to develop the new access concept, where the risk assessment with all safety measures is the core of the work. Basis for the access concept are on one hand the security-related standards and laws, starting with the law on the protection of workers (“ASchG”) and followed by the machinery directive (2006/42/EG), which is identical to the machine safety regulation, and standards like ÖNORM EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849-1, OVE EN 62061, ÖNORM EN ISO 13855 and ÖNORM EN ISO 13857. On the other hand, the existing documents of the forging line, which are delivered by the enterprise, build the second basis. These documents include individual operation instructions and individual risk assessments and further. After the review of all standards, laws and documents, the risk analysis with following risk evaluation was carried out on basis of all standards and laws. Therefore, a self-made risk analysis according to the standards was compiled, in which only the activities and hazards and the risk evaluation must be implemented. The assessment of the residual risk and the therefore necessary SIL (Safety Integrity Level) for electrical controlling as well for the components takes place automatically. As the forging line is an existing forging line, with an already existing safety concept, the risk assessment has been evaluated without the electronic measurements but with the mechanical and organizational measurements. Afterwards the existing and new electrical measurements were implemented in the risk analysis and a new risk evaluation has taken place. The iterative process of risk assessment and risk reduction was realized. The necessity of the creation of a new access concept results from reconstruction. Thereby, a gate is removed, to enable the gateway for a new machine out of the danger zone. The new access concept needs therefore some new, combined, electronical safety measurements. For a new and safe variant following components are needed: 2 light grids according to SIL2 and two surface sensors according to SIL2. With the above stated measurements, the danger zone is always protected by electronical or mechanical measurements and the risk assessment for the semi-automatic forging line has therefore only low to negligible residual risks. The access concept is successfully adjusted.
