Abstract

In order to achieve a successful orientation of a company towards the requirements of global competition, a compromise between different, often conflicting goals is required. Defining target values is one of the main tasks of a company’s positioning regarding logistics. The company SIG Combibloc wants to guarantee their customers a maximum delivery time of three weeks, the maximum production utilization in order to fulfill this goal should be estimated. Additionally, if the utilization rate is higher than the calculated maximum rate over a certain period of time, a specific amount of finished goods is needed in order to deliver on time. Various methods can be used to analyze the requirements and impacts of these goals, the descriptions and a comparison of methods form the theoretical basis of this thesis. After evaluating the methods and choosing the most suitable one, the logistics operating curves approach is used. In addition to finding target values to achieve the maximum delivery time of three weeks, the amount of finished goods is calculated, which has to be stored to be able to deliver on time even if the production utilization is higher than aimed.
