Abstract

This master thesis deals with the loss of alloying elements (C, Si, Mn and Al) during the secondary metallurgy treatment. Therefore samples of a railsteel, a cold heading steel and two seamless tube steel grades were taken during the ladle treatment and continous casting. The study of the alloy loss starts during the ladle treatment and ends at the tundish of the continous caster where the last samples were taken. The samples include total oxygen samples, disk and slag samples which are evaluated with the spark emission spectrometer and other evaluation methods. Then a calculation model for the alloy loss were created which represents the influence of different process parameters such as heating power, heating duration, flushing flow and flushing time.
