Steep Angle Conveying

Research output: ThesisDiploma Thesis

Abstract

It is needless to say that any business aims to cut costs. In the mining industry, continuous conveying offers a possible solution to this end. This thesis considers different continuous steep angle conveying systems as substitute for truck haulage systems in open pit mines. After a detailed literature review on the available systems, the major technical requirements are determined and used in an application of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). This matrix based method assists in finding an appropriate answer to the decision goal, to determine the most suitable steep angle conveying system, by ranking the alternatives according to their compliance with the requirements and to the importance of the requirements itself. Further investigations were carried out with the favored alternative; resulting in a design example illustrating the limits of this steep angle conveying system.
