Abstract

To stay competitive it is important to constantly improve maintenance management. Especially when it comes to non-value-adding operations like setup processes it is essential to operate resource-efficient. To improve productivity as well as efficiency, resource logistics and personnel placement need to be planned in an optimal manner. It is possible to save both time and money. Various principals, for example TPM, can be used to create a production system that is as free of waste as possible. Furthermore, training of employees can help to organize and optimize time management. The present master thesis deals with the analysis of setup processes and equipment logistics based on the new mill of the voestalpine Wire Rod GmbH Austria. For that purpose a general plan regarding the setup activities of the facility will be generated. It will provide an overview of the makeready processes. This general plan serves as the starting point for further analysis respectively corporate planning. As a result of this, potential for optimization and measures can be derived. The focus of the master thesis lies on the optimal use of resources to generate a higher productivity. Required information was provided by system supplier Danieli. The master thesis provides not only an analysis of the various setup processes which can impact future decision making, but also a plan that reveals potential for optimization.
