abstract = "The purpose of the project was to define, study Kansanshi mine{\textquoteright}s material handling after blasting to the crushing plant, and assess how economically beneficial In Pit Crushing and conveyance would be if Kansanshi mine embraced that method. Kansanshi mine transports its ore and waste after drilling and blasting using a number of equipment, Blast Hole drills, Top hammers, Ditchers, Excavators and finally transports the material by trucking. Some of the Trucks are diesel operated while others are Electra trucks. In short, there is a number of auxiliary machinery used in this method, besides labour intensity which can be significantly reduced by adopting in pit crushing and conveyance. Findings are that the current method has adverse effects such as; •High Diesel costs •Labour intensity •High capital expenditure •high Carbon emissions •High Maintainace costs •Demands skill labour availability to be cost effective etc Therefore, it was imperative to look an alternative method that will be cost beneficial for the survival of the mine. and the indentified method was the In Pit crushing and Conveyance a method that most mines have adopted especially for high productivity, as they hit low grade ore and among other reasons , as they try to adhere to good environmental ethics with view of the current global warming. A number of notable design and manufacturing houses such as Sandvik, FLSmith, and P& H have taken the lead to promote In Pit Crushing and conveyance. With many other studies that have been under taken, Kansanshi mine which has great potential of expansion with the number of exploration sites and concessions it has, would be mot cost effective by adopting In pit Crushing and Conveyance.",
