Referenzprozesse für die Logistik auf zyklischen Tunnelbaustellen

Research output: ThesisDoctoral Thesis

Abstract

Tunnel construction is an essential industrial sector, providing structure and passageways in order to enable the mobility of people and goods. Particularly in Central Europe – due to topographical conditions, the expansion of pumped storage power plants and transport infrastructure – unique underground construction projects such as the New Railway Link through the Alps in Switzerland or the Southern Railway in Austria have been planned and built in the past two decades. The respective construction methods have been examined and improved by various research initiatives. Highly relevant for the material-intensive process of tunnel construction, though academically underrepresented, is the field of logistics. Due to differences in environment and stakeholders, the planning and execution of logistics activities vary from on construction site to another. Nevertheless, there are similarities, and numerous processes are comparable or equal. An approach to standardize the material and information flows is the development of reference processes. The purpose of this thesis is the construction and modeling of operational and logistics reference processes for cyclic tunneling. The framework is provided by the tunnel round operation, which is the pacemaker for the whole con-struction cycle. Using BPMN 2.0 as modeling language, the processes, stake-holders, documents and information flows are visualized. In addition, processes that could be optimized are identified and this standardization of se-quences could be applied to other projects. To support these procedures, a software solution was developed and verified in a pilot test on a tunneling site. The ICT solution was well accepted by the stakeholders on site and significant optimization potentials in operation and logistics could be revealed.
