Produktionslosgrößen und logistische Kennlinien in der Hybridfertigung - Ein Konzept zur Bestimmung des Einflusses der Produktionslosgröße und Reihenfolge auf logistische Zielgrößen am Beispiel einer Hybridfertigung

Research output: ThesisDoctoral Thesis

Abstract

The focus of manufacturing companies is put on the realization of economic production alongside with designing their production according to customers’ needs, which helps to meet the rising number of individual requests and therefore ensures competitiveness through differentiation from the competition. The fact, that the appropriate determination of production lot size and sequence has positive impact not only on the cost effectiveness but also on the logistical performance of a system, has received insufficient attention in business practice. However, it should be noted that the importance of lot size and sequence determination has greatly increased in recent years and therefore this dissertation has been created. The aim of this thesis is to develop models for mapping and evaluating the influence of production lot size and sequence on logistics costs and performance of a production system alongside with the derivation of a procedural concept, which allows identification of the influence of production lot size and sequence on logistic objectives. The focus is also put on hybrid production systems, which include both processes of material reshaping and transformation. In order to answer the research question, an assessment tool is developed with the help of which the impact of different production lot sizes and sequences on logistic objectives can be shown and evaluated. Similarly, a new basic function for describing Logistic Operating Curves is developed which allows advantage by fitting to real conditions in comparison using existing models. Furthermore an approach is presented which takes not only costs but also logistics objectives into consideration, while determining the production lot size and sequence. Decision support is provided through application of the in the concept contained balancing algorithm. It facilitates the coordination between lot size and sequence planning, and also between logistics performance and costs of hybrid manufacturing. The verification and validation of the developed models and procedures are achieved in the course of the implementation in a copper mill. As result reduction of production and better logistic performance could be reached.
