Abstract
The theoretical part of this thesis acquaints the reader with terms of asset management, maintenance and system theory. In addition physical basics about rolling techniques are worked up. In the course of the development of the practical part a comprehensive analysis of the available production system was accomplished in the cogging and billet mill (EWB) at the Böhler Edelstahl GmbH in Kapfenberg (BEG). It succeeded to deduce a complex computation model for the determination of the ideal machining time of a rolling schedule. The determination of the performance rate was realized by a comparison of the computed with the actual rolling duration. A further emphasis lay in the investigation of possibilities for the determination of the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of the production system in the EWB. It turned out that a common OEE for the considered plant does not exhibit the demanded expressiveness, in order to derive influencing factors on the effectiveness of the production system. Instead the computation of an additional performance figure, the logistic availability (LV) was launched. It benchmarks the quality of production planning, without changing superordinate performance figures. Closer research into dependences of the LV of individual aggregates in the available production system, yielded possible arrangements for the optimization of the material flow.
