For heading in crossways drilling and blasting is applied in the mines of Salinen Austria AG in Salzkammergut by means of a hand-operated drill hammer. For hauling an Eimco Rocker Shovel Loader 12 B is used. In terms of safety at work and possible ease of work for miners a combination of devices respectively a multi-function device, which fulfils the economic and technical needs of today, shall be determined. Prior thereto the relevant individual steps for both mines Altaussee and Hallstatt have been defined and the required duration has been determined. In work sessions with the management the considered mining devices have been reduced and evaluated to a range of optimal devices. The top four combinations out of ten have been compared with the existing system with regard to their technical and economic aspects. Based on an evaluation procedure and a cost effective analysis by means of investment and comparative cost method a multi-function device, which meets all requirements, has been recommended.
