N2 - Hot metal gas forming is a very promising new manufacturing technology, because it offers the possibility to form tubular and sheet metal components at high temperatures and low pressures. A great number of tube profiles with different cross sections can be formed by means of this production process, which is nowadays of great importance, due to an increasing demand of weight reduction and high strength in almost all fields of mechanical engineering. The aim of this work was to build a numerical model of a hot metal gas forming process to analyse the forming behaviour of the tube and to allow a later prediction of the feasibility of new tube cross sections with a reduced number of necessary experiments. To obtain appropriate input data for the simulation various experiments and calculations were conducted. Based on the gained data the numerical model was build with the simulation software Abaqus. The results of the experiments and the simulation were compared to each other for a verification of the simulation model.
