Abstract

The focus of this work was the construction and building of a suitable lab-demonstration for die forging. The material used for the workpiece was plasticine, because of it´s similar properties compared to steel at hot forging temperatures. For press construction, many different systems are available. These are categorized and explained according to their operating principle. On the basis of the structural design and working behavior of the respective presses different ad-vantages and disadvantages and application areas can be identified. For the construction of the machine, there are many integral elements which need to be considered like the machine frame, the guide and the tool holder. The interaction between these components is also an important part to consider. In addition, the influence of servo technology in press construction will be described. Using suitable measuring concepts, both the position and resulting forces can be recorded during the process. Using the concepts and measurement technology described in the literature section, a press was designed and calculated for a previously defined reference component. The forming dies are manufactured using a 3D printer. All electronic components and a suitable controllers were selected. The micro- processor Raspberry Pi was used, as a cost-effective alternative to other highend-controllers. Finally, the system was put into operation by implementing a suitable au-tomation. Force measuring sensors were used to map the required force-displacement curve.
