Abstract

The rising degree of automation in warehouse systems makes testing in general and especially testing the performance of such warehouses more and more important. Normally the material flow control of a warehouse communicates with superior systems, with which data is exchanged bidirectionally. For the execution of tests, it has to be ensured that data is available without the accessibility of these superior systems. This can be accomplished by introducing a simulation. The present master thesis deals with this problem and illustrates it with the aid of an example of practical relevance. The structure of material flow controls and their superior systems is presented at the outset. Furthermore, the term simulation is defined and insight into possible applications is provided. The communication between the material flow control and the superior system is shown for a specific project and all requirements for a test system are listed. The simulation for generating the test data is created on the basis of these standards. Said simulation is presented together with a detailed explanation for handling it. In conclusion a prospect on possible additional projects is given.
