Abstract
In the last few years the importance of the elements "data", "information" and "knowledge" has increased in the operational context. In the execution of similar or organized on projects, these resources are regarded as an essential basis for economic competitive advantages and the resulting ability to grow. In order to identify wasteful deviations during the implementation of service projects, it is necessary to examine and analyse this area in detail. The primary focus of this thesis is the processing of projects with regard to the needed resources of "data", "information" and "knowledge". At the beginning of this thesis, the basic structure of knowledge, as well as the related management disciplines, with their tasks, methods and goals, were discussed. Since the main focus of this thesis is the acquisition of the information flow and the possible introduction of knowledge-based project management, similar or respective management fields have been methodically described until the context, overlaps and differences of this terms are completely clarified. The empirical part of this master thesis deals with the explanation of optimization potentials that were found by analysing and presenting the information flow using the example of the project management of the company NK-LNZ-PDC. Based on written and oral questioning of the departmental staff, types of wasteful handling of the resources "knowledge", "data" and "information" got identified. Suggestions for improvement and success factors were disclosed subsequently. As a result of the current data collection, a topic-related catalogue of measures was arranged with regard to usage weighting. Especially the definitions of responsibilities and tasks were missing. Furthermore, the standardization and restructuring of self-created documents or data, their content and nomenclature is missing and needs to be developed. In addition, the design of a departmental, but also a cross-departmental uniform and structured data storage system has to be realized. If these potential improvement of action plan will be implemented, the basic requirements for the introduction of a knowledge management system or a knowledge-based project management could be applied. By using the method of the function diagram, the required determination of responsibilities and tasks of the individual departments of the NK-LNZ-PDC could be carried out. Moreover, the attempt was made to introduce a uniform folder structure, which encountered opposition from the staff.
