Renewable energy communities (REC) offer the option of joint production and supply with renewable energy sources. In this paper, the general conditions of REC in Austria are presented and the financial and ecological effects of a RECare comprehensively analysed using a newly developed simulation tool. The results show positive financial and ecological effects of the REC under consideration. Using a sensitivity analysis, the parameters of the simulation model are analysed and the key influencing variables are discussed.
