Ermittlung industrieller Abwärmepotentiale mit Schwerpunkt Holzindustrie, Herstellung von Biotreibstoffen und Gasinfrastruktur

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

This thesis¿s objective is to capture and analyse the potential of waste heat from selected companies considering the sectors gas infrastructure, bioethanol production, wood panel production and glass manufacture. The thesis is set up as to provide suitable data of waste heat potentials for the project Industrial Excess Heat Erhebung industrieller Abwärmepotentiale INXS, which can be integrated into the Austrian Heat Map. That shall further be utilised to overlap waste heat potentials with heat demands. To gather information, a literature research was done and the availability of sources was discovered. Based on the accessible sources, the available techniques were determined and the processes in the companies were mathematically replicated. The relevant companies were analysed via Top Down Approach or Bottom Up Analysis, depending on the available sources of information. Starting from the gathered Data, the companies were depicted to detect waste heat potentials, which were further categorised by temperature and medium. The results were analysed and rated, considering the gathered best available techniques. The results show, that - especially for low temperature applications - there are potentials of waste heat, which can be accessed continuously. In this sector the utilisation via heat pump technologies can be used for optimization. In sectors of high temperature applications, the waste heat of firing systems for heat supplies is dominant. These are often utilised already, but there is still significant potential to benefit from by primarily applying combined heat and power technologies.
