Various managerial top-down approaches to set up knowledge management systems in companies have been widely implemented. However, the deliberate management and transfer of knowledge, which has been gained in projects on a tactical and operational level, are often neglected. Nevertheless, exactly the information-pool, which is created in the course of a project, is invaluable for new project members and even beyond the context of a project. This master thesis therefore focuses on project knowledge for the planning of international automotive projects to supply the Audi foreign manufacturing facilities in China. Different approaches to manage the transfer of implicit and explicit knowledge gained in the course of projects may be found in the literature and are discussed in the course of the present master thesis. A possible approach to preserve and pass on knowledge on operational level is the set-up of a field proven reference model, based on extensive project documentation and on the project team members’ implicit knowledge of methods. The aim of this thesis is to allocate the resource knowledge on operational level for future projects efficiently. With this background in mind, this master thesis investigates and structures the tactical logistics planning for the supply of international production sites of the AUDI AG. This analysis is on the one hand grounded on the theoretical basis in current literature. It is on the other hand expanded by implicit and explicit knowledge of project team members, which was gained from completed and ongoing automotive projects. This master-thesis derives a field proven reference-model on this grounding, to support the tactical logistics planning with the aim to optimize resource dedication in the future planning and implementation phase of logistics concepts. Therefore this procedure model is not only based on existing knowledge, it structures and combines this knowledge to create new know-how which then is enhanced by additional supportive methods. The practical usage of the derived procedure model is shown on current automotive projects for the Chinese market. In addition specific results of their tactical logistics planning phase, which were gained by using the procedure model are illustrated in the course of this thesis.
