Abstract
In the last 15 years, the Institute of Geophysics has covered great parts of the Austrian territory by gravity measurements. Because of economical reasons and also for the best utilization of the included information it was necessary, to create a new organization structure for the complicated run-off mode of gravity data from the field-measurements to the final presentation of the results and to distribute the datasystem by consideration of the old databases. For this purpose an interactive controled, dynamical database and expert system was developed. The first part gives a description of the theoretical foundations of gravity field determination and the definitions of the quantities and parameters in use. In the second part the computer-based managing, processing and analysis of gravity data with a free choice of parameters will be described. In the third part the software system is used for solving practical problems. At first the data set of a gravity survey in Vorarlberg, will be processed, represented in maps and interpreted. From detail-measurements a geological model of structures for a local Quaternary basin (Rhine valley near Feldkirch) will be created. A comparsion of conventional and new developed evaluation techniques show the obtained methodical improvement. Finally the results of two applications of the new method in prospecting (hydrogeology, brown coal) were presented. (Autor).
