The decision making process is a multi-layered process, which depends on a variety of influencing factors. Which alternatives are selected in the case of several existing decision variants, has a great influence on the further development of a crises or decision making situation. The present investigation deals with the developments and influencing factors of the decision-making process. The analysis of several models and theories from different scientific disciplines is intended to provide an accurate insight into the different perspectives and approaches of the scientific literature on the areas of the decision making processes. Supported by the consideration of practice-oriented decision-making scenarios, within the framework of fire fighter inserts, findings are to be gained, which enable sustainable interpretations of the results.
