Einflüsse auf die Laugung von Aktivmaterial aus Lithium-Ionen-Batterien unter Anwendung von Druck

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

Batteries are important products for a modern society. Especially lithium-ion accumulators are indispensable due to their positive properties in the areas of mobility and communication. Valuable metals such as cobalt and nickel are used for their production. A recycling of these is of economic, legal and strategic importance. Current methods rely primarily on pyro-metallurgical systems for recovery, which, however, have significant disadvantages because of the high energy requirement and the material losses. In this respect, hydrometallurgical treatments offer promising possibilities. These provoke new approaches via metal leaching using acids or bases. However, large-scale industrial implementation still requires additional research activities regarding the susceptibility to faults of this method due to the far-reaching topic. Therefore, the present master's thesis investigates the influence of various parameters on the leaching progress of active material under increased pressure as part of a wet chemical recycling process. An autoclave is used as the test apparatus, which enables to keep the predefined influencing variables constant. A schedule created with the data analysis program MODDE 12® supports the test planning. The subsequent processing of the results is also supported by this software. For this purpose, 4D contour diagrams are modeled, which show the optimal leaching area. For the elements cobalt and nickel, this comprises a long test period, high solids content and low temperatures.
