N2 - The following contribution focuses on the secondary cooling zone of a slab caster, analyzing the effectsof nozzle parameters on cooling conditions. The researchgroup employs experimental measurements, including theNozzle Measuring Stand (NMS), to determine local heattransfer coefficients (HTC) and water distribution. Thesemeasurements are crucial for accurately setting the boundary conditions in the simulation. The implementation ofthese boundary conditions is realized by an ExponentialGaussian Process Regression (EGPR) to predict HTC values. The results highlight the importance of an accurateHTC assessment in regions with overlapping sprays. Thedeveloped methodology aids in enhancing the precision ofsimulations for continuous casting processes, contributingto a better product quality and process efficiency using thenon-commercial software platform “m2CAST”.
