N2 - Sand production is a major problem associated with most fields worldwide. It is known to have serious effects on safety, wells production, equipment and field economics. Thus, it is necessary to follow a well-planned completion strategy once the well is predicted to be sand producer. This thesis will study the case of two fields of OMV. Most of the wells in these fields’ assets are sand producers to different levels and severity where the applied passive sand management strategy is very limited as the sand production is still evolving. The purpose of this study is to adopt an adequate sand control method to manage and avoid sand production. It contains a sand management completion strategy, starting from the initial screening, to final solution of a sand control design. This thesis includes ranking and modelling of different sand control methods. The workflow also introduces an understanding of the essential geomechanical phenomenon. It incorporated the use of a software packages including: DuneFront and HeliSand. They were used in order to have a better overview on the most appropriate method to be used for each well. In addition, this work demonstrated both advantages and disadvantages of the technical and economical perspectives of the proposed sand methods.
