Das Potenzial der Biomassevergasung für eine nachhaltige regionale Energieversorgung

Research output: ThesisDoctoral Thesis

Abstract

Both the situation of and the forecast for the security of energy supply of the European Union are rated as unsatisfactory. One possible solution for this problem is the use of forest biomass in innovative energy supply solutions, which are based on biomass gasification. For the valuations of the comprehensive resource consumptions and their compositions (renewable and non renewable resource groups) of five selected regional supply solutions (which are based on biomass gasification, on biomass combustion as well as on natural gas combustion) the erweiterte kumulierte Exergieverbrauchs- valuation method is developed. It is shown, that biomass using supply solutions, but not fossil fuels using supply solutions can influence the security of energy supply of the EU in a positive way. Energy supply solutions based on biomass gasification are using biomass, whose availability is limited in the EU, with a higher degree of efficiency than supply solutions based on biomass combustion. Additionally, they are more flexible with regard to the different possible types of energy to be generated. Consequently biomass gasification is better suited for the use in regional energy supply solutions.
