title = "Contribution to mine site closure planing and rehabilitation of Limestone Quarry, case study Chlef region in Algeria",
abstract = "The new environmental policies in Algeria adopted in 2014, requires the mining companies to consider the closure phase seriously. Many mining companies in the country and especially the small-scale mines and quarries have not yet developed practical strategies to plan a proper postmining land use. Our work consists of contributing to the post mining landscape planning for the Oued-Fodda Unit of ENOF company which located in Chef region. The first step we took is analyzing the obligations set by authorities for the closure file and compare it to the actual existing plan that the company has for post mining planning. After examining the files and determining the missing requirements, we established the reclamation choice. In this part, we have considered the stakeholders objectives including the company and strengthening the idea by interviewing experts in different fields to validate the choice. To proceed the rehabilitation of our site, we have conducted research to select the suitable species for this process focusing on the site conditions. After choosing Olive trees, we have defined the procedures for planting followed by modeling the vision of our study site after reducing the benches height, backfilling and planting. In order to examine the feasibility of the project and the proposed plan, we estimated approximately the closure costs. We have estimated as well the saving that the company must already have to finance this phase and compare them to the costs.",
