Abstract

High alloyed austenitic CrMnN-steels are used in many applications in the oil- and gas-production. Strength, toughness, non-magnetic behavior and corrosion resistance are important properties of these materials. However, in chloride-containing medias these steels are susceptible to pitting corrosion. The resistance to pitting corrosion can be increased by alloying of selected elements. In the present thesis the influence of the alloying of Molybdenum, Nickel and Nitrogen was investigated. Furthermore the influence of cold deformation on the pitting corrosion resistance was investigated. The characterization of the pitting corrosion behavior was examinated by cyclic-potentiodynamic polarization measurements and immersion tests. The results of these experiments were compared with results of standard calculation methods.
