Abstract

In the following work, sorting experiments were carried out with the aim of producing a high-quality micaceous iron oxide concentrate. The focus was on the production of a concentrate that is free of crystalline quartz. To achieve these goals, the Air-Sorting-Table and the Corona-Roller-Separator were used as sorting aggregates. During the tests, the possibility of pre-separation of the quartz and carbonates was also considered. It was possible to produce a quartz-free concentrate and to separate the essential contents of quartz and carbonates with the combination of Air-Sorting-Tabel and Corona-Roller-Separator as pre-separation of the tailings. The findings obtained in the laboratory tests were applied to industrial-scale units in a pilot test at the company IFE Aufbereitungstechnik GmbH. This enabled important conclusions to be drawn for upscaling and industrial implementation. Especially about the possible mass output of finished concentrates, concrete estimates are possible. Based on these findings, an economic analysis was carried out using various business management methods.
