Analysis of mining terrain deformation based on public PSInSAR data. Norwegian iron ore mine case study

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

The thesis described sublevel caving mining method and its associations with ground deformations. The literature review was conducted to explore different methods for analyzing land subsidence related to sublevel caving mining method. In order to gather data for analysis, land subsidence PSInSAR data from the Kvannevann iron mine in Norway were obtained from the insar.ngu.no website. Using Random Forest Regression method, the predicted ground subsidence in study area was calculated and the extent of continuous deformation zone was estimated. Finally, the applicability of public data for deformation monitoring purposes was evaluated.
