Analyse des Abwärmepotentials der Hochofen-Heißwindproduktion bei den Winderhitzern und mögliche energetische Nutzung im Hüttenwerk am Standort Donawitz

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

In this master’s thesis different possibilities for optimization of the hot-blast stoves for crude steel production at voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH will be analyzed. The evaluation of several possibilities of improvement will be realized by a thermodynamical simulation in EBSILON®Professional. The developed model should be validated by measured data and anomalies that are monitored during the operation will be examined. Differences in the efficiency of the hot-blast stoves are caused by surface losses. By changing the operation mode of the hot-blast stoves an average of 73 Nm3/h of natural gas could be saved. By preheating the combustion air further fuel savings could be realized. The preheating could be enabled by flue gas or waste heat of other production processes. Another possibility analyzed is the increase of the hot blast temperature as a result of preheating the combustion air. Results show that by the implementation of the heat from the flue gas into a heat displacement system average fuel savings of 454 Nm3/h of natural gas could be achieved. While keeping the fuel input constant the temperature of the hot-blast could be increased by 65 °C. If the preheating is carried out by waste heat from production, fuel savings of 225 Nm3/h could be realized. The temperature of the hot blast could be increased by 25 °C maintaining the same fuel input.
