N2 - For suppliers of mineral exploration equipment to excel and be recognised as the leader in this industry, it is important to look beyond market share of the products it supplies. Many of the mineral exploration technologies being used today has been around for decades without much innovation. The exploration industry therefore requires the next generation of technology that will lead to a breakthrough in gathering superior ore body knowledge and interpretation, in a safer, more environmentally friendly manner and at a lower cost. This will ultimately benefit more efficient and higher quality mining – whether it be a single exploration drilling rig employed to target a specific site or an expansive exploration drilling programme involving many, an in-pit RC grade control operation or a global "best practice" business standard for a mining company. The hope is that in time the concept will evolve and be developed by Institutes, Associations and Governing Bodies within the mining industry worldwide.
