Seyedreza Kashef Tabrizian, a Ph.D. student from the Robotics Group of Vrije Universiteit Brussel has spent a 3 months’ visit at PCCL and the Chair of Chemistry of Polymeric Materials at Montanuniversitaet Leoben (within the framework of the Marie Curie ITN SMART). He worked on the 3D printing of functional soft active devices and designed 3D-printed shape-memory polymer-based shape-adaptive fingertips, with two main properties needed for effective grasping. A paper about this work has been submitted to the IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters and is currently being under revision.
