Vorversuche eines kontinuierlichen, pyrometallurgischen Lithium-Ionen Batterie Recyclingverfahrens

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

In order to achieve decarbonization of emission-intensive sectors such as industry or transportation, electrification of these also particularly energy-intensive sectors is a very promising option. To store the required electrical energy, lithium-ion batteries have emerged as the most promising alternative due to their unique electrochemical properties. Since some critical resources are required for the production of these batteries, which results in political and economic dependencies, the possibility of pyrometallurgical recycling of these batteries in discontinuous operation has been developed at the Chair of Thermal Processing Technology at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben. The aim of this work is to carry out preliminary tests for continuous operation of this process in order to take a step towards industrial scale. With the results of a first series of tests, a good overview of the challenges to be overcome in the course of the development of the continuous process could be given.
