Abstract

This master thesis was developed by the InnoBla project, which is funded by the "Contaminated Sites Research" program and deals with the improvement of the economic efficiency of heating soils by electrically heated heat sources or heating lances (Thermal Conductive Heating) for thermally assisted soil vapor extraction. For these investigations, non-contaminated soil from Kraubath in Styria is used. In four experiments the heating of the soil takes place in a cylindrical steel construction by means of a heating lance, which is heated to a different temperature level for each of the experiments. The execution of the experiments takes place over several hours, in which the soil is dried and partially pyrolyzed. The temperature is recorded digitally at certain time intervals using Labview [1] and Matlab [2] is used for the subsequent evaluation of the results. In addition to the experiments, data are simulated and then compared with those obtained using the experiments. The purpose of this work is to present the activities carried out and the project results obtained.
