Transversalflussmaschine in axialer Anordnung

Research output: ThesisDoctoral Thesis

Abstract

The Transversal-Flux-Machine (TFM) is a very unconventional machine design compared to the classical concepts of electrical machines. In principle, the TFM is a single phase synchronous machine with permanent excitation, equipped with a high number of poles. The stator winding of a rotating TFM is arranged as a ring shaped coil. The magnetic circuit consists of U-shaped stator irons and the permanent-magnet rotor and is enclosing the stator winding. Therefore, the magnetic flux is orientated in a “transversal” way compared to the direction of the stator winding and movement. For a continuous torque production, at least two machines in mechanical interconnection are necessary. The TFM is a machine for low rotational speeds capable of producing high torques. Therefore the TFM is the ideal solution for direct-drives without gear. This thesis presents the design, manufacture and investigation of a TFM in axial arrangement in an epoxy-resin-setup.
