N2 - This masterthesis deals with the phenomenon of paraffin deposition during oil production at the Voitsdorf-Bad-Hall-Sierning Field in Upper Austria of RAG and discusses typical problems and possible solutions to it. The theoretical background covers parameters and factors that favour paraffin precipitation and deposition as well as possible consequences and problems to it. Traditional and new methods for the prevention of paraffin related problems as well as the economical impacts of using them are discussed. This thesis also includes a system analysis in order to locate and determine problematic wells and evaluate the severity of the problems at the treated Field in Upper Austria. After the collection of necessary data, laboratory tests to evaluate the performance of used paraffin inhibitors are described and performed. Boundary conditions, which are necessary to warrant adequate and fully functioning injection of field chemicals, are described and adapted to the field. Furthermore, newly acquired data from laboratory tests are constantly monitored in the field. The aim is to establish a connection between laboratory tests and normal field operations and to evaluate performances of different solutions to paraffin related problems within RAG in Upper Austria. This thesis also covers a cost analysis where methods that are used by RAG are economically discussed and evaluated. The conclusion includes perceptions that are gained due to laboratory tests for each well and covers possible actions for the future.
