Struktur - Eigenschaftsbeziehungen eines Ti - legierten PH 13-8 Mo Maraging Stahls

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

The aim of this work was to characterize the mechanical properties and precipitation evolution of a Ti-alloyed PH 13-8 Mo maraging steel produced by three different production routes. The mechanical properties were determined by means of hardness, tensile and notch-bar impact tests. In addition, the austenite content was determined via XRD measurements and the δ-ferrite content by optical microscope evaluations. The characterization and development of the precipitates, after various heat treatments, was determined by atom probe tomography. It was found that the Ti-alloyed PH 13-8 Mo variants have higher hardness, tensile strength and impact energy values than the conventional PH 13 8 Mo maraging steel. Furthermore, the Ti-alloyed PH 13-8 Mo steel has a higher austenite content than the conventionalPH 13-8 Mo. In addition, it could be demonstrated that the condition without remelting shows the highest δ-ferrite content. The atom probe measurements showed that there are no inhomogeneities or enrichments of alloying elements in the solution-annealed state. After short-time ageing an undefined precursor phase forms first. Starting from the precursor phase, two new phases are formed independently, the η-phase Ni3(Ti,Al) and the G-phase Ti6Si7Ni16.
